Little kids learn by playing games, big boys and girls learn by making games. After 5 weeks of studying the art of programming, we gave our students the assignment to "make a game" using the basic knowledge they have acquired so far. These might not be the high-end, polished AAA games they will be creating in the future, but they are off to a promising start. After only a few weeks, even the complete novices have managed to create jumpable platforms, the first attempts at gravity, ánd shooter mechanics.
In the coming weeks, we will take them through object orientation, STL containers and much more, in order to get their C++ knowledge to the level where we can take on algorithms, advanced game mechanics, physics and much more. We can’t wait to see what they’ll be creating next!
