Game Design Fundamentals

Game Design Fundamentals introduces students to the core principles that define games and their impact as cultural artifacts. This course examines games as structured systems, dramatic experiences, and facilitators of play, emphasizing their historical evolution, aesthetic and moral dimensions, and societal role.

 

Through a combination of game analysis, theoretical frameworks, and class discussions, students will develop a critical understanding of game design and its broader implications.

 

Assessment will be based on participation, analytical discussions, and a final exam. Students will be required to participate in class discussions about different types of reading material.
