Our VFX students emulated the True Detective credit sequences for their compositing exam. They selected the shots they wanted to recreate and then used those as a direct reference in the green key studio trying to match character, lighting & pose.
In DaVinci Resolve the film characters were extracted from their background, then composited with other found footage, enhanced with typography and combined with textured layers to create subtle depth and parallax in animation.
